Parliamentary committees deal with anything from relations with Turkey to migration and car emissions this week. Parliament President Martin Schulz is due to visit Ankara, while MEPs discuss the EU-Canada trade agreement. In addition former commissioner Günter Verheugen answers questions from the Parliament's inquiry committee investigating car emission tests.

Turkey
The foreign affairs committee discusses on Tuesday the situation in Turkey as well as the country's incursion into Syria, while Schulz meets president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara on Thursday.

Migration
The civil liberties committee debates on Wednesday legislative proposals to complete the reform of the Common European Asylum System, including harmonising procedures for protection standards and rights and reception conditions.

CETA
The international trade committee debates Wednesday the end of the negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada as well as the European Commission's decision to let national parliaments vote on it. The EU-Canada trade agreement will need to be approved by the European Parliament before it can enter into force.

Car emissions
Günter Verheugen, who was the commissioner responsible for enterprise and industry commissioner from 2004 to 2010, appears before the inquiry committee investigating the Volkswagen emissions scandal on Tuesday.

EU budget
Parliamentary committees vote this week on their proposals for amendments to the EU's budget for next year. It will then be up to the budgets committee to put it all together in the coming weeks. The plenary vote on these proposals is due to take place at the end of October.
