St Columba's Transition year pupils participate in Euroscola

On 28 April a group of transition students from St. Columba's College Donegal will travel to Strasbourg to participate in the Euroscola programme.  These transition year pupils are being taught European Studies as part of their Transition Year Programme. They are linked up with schools from Dublin. Belfast, Poland, Slovakia and work on different projects throughout the year. They  have competed many times in the National Forum on Europe Public Speaking Competitions.

"St Columba's College Stranorlar are really looking forward to the opportunity in participating in the Euroscola day in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Being involved in the Euroscola means having the opportunity to become an MEP for one day. They, along with students from all over Europe will be given topics to discuss and make decisions on. along with being able to speak other EU languages with students from the other 26 countries.  They will work in committees just like the European Parliament and will be involved in a plenary session in the afternoon. They are given the topics in advance of travelling, so research can be carried out and the students are then prepared for the big day.
